When President Obama commented on the arrest of his friend on a disorderly charge inside his own house, saying the Cambridge Police Department acted “stupidly”, he was wrong, wrong, wrong! He does not have all of the facts in the case and has no idea what actually transpired inside that residence. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is the Editor-In-Chief of “The Root”, on online newsletter. Here is an exerpt from ‘his’ own newsletter:

“Cambridge police were called to the home Thursday afternoon after a woman reported seeing a man “wedging his shoulder into the front door as to pry the door open,” according to a police report.

An officer ordered the man to identify himself, and Gates refused, according to the report. Gates began calling the officer a racist and said repeatedly, “This is what happens to black men in America.”

Officers said they tried to calm down the 58-year-old academic, who responded, “You don’t know who you’re messing with,” according to the police report.

Gates was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge after police said he “exhibited loud and tumultuous behavior.”

The actions of Mr. Gates were totally uncalled for and out of line. The officers had a duty to identify the man trying to ‘break in’ to the house. Mr. Gates was right, they didnt’ know who they were messing with and had a duty to find out. He was wrong and should have been arrested. Obama was wrong making comments about the case without the benefit of all of the information and assuming the officer was acting “stupidly”.

I’m just glad I’m retired now!!

Ed McMahon died last week. He was a great Entertainer, but prior to his stage accomplishments he was a distinguished Marine Corps fighter pilot in WWII earning six Air Medals and attaining the rank of Colonel. He was discharged in 1946 and was later promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the CA Air National Guard.

Farrah Fawcett died last week after a long career in Hollywood as an actress.
After she was diagnosed with cancer, she became an activist for cancer treatment and devoted her last remaining years encouraging people to seek treatment. She documented her plight on film and used it to encourage others to stay positive and upbeat despite their diagnosis and suffering.

Michael Jackson died last week. He was perhaps one of the greatest singers
of modern time. He will also be remembered for his eccentric lifestyle that included sleeping with a chimpanzee, living in a carnival-like atmosphere at Neverland, his fascination with Peter Pan, and his numerous masks and costumes. He also admitted to finding pleasure sleeping with young boys. He paid out reportedly 20 million dollars in settlements to the families of these boys despite being acquitted by a court on one allegation of sexual molestation.

QUESTION 1- Which of the above did the House of Representatives Declare a moment of silence for?
(Hint – It Wasn’t The first two.)

QUESTION 2- Which of the above’s family received a personal note of
condolence from President Obama?
(Hint – It wasn’t the first two.)

It’s getting harder and harder for me to support the current administration and congress.

It’s amazing how Freedom of Speech only applies when people want to hear what you have to say.  If you say something perceived to be negative about gays and lesbians you are berated and beaten up in the media.  However, they can say anything they want.  Now, while looking very hard for a reason to strip Miss California of her crown after her comments that marriage should be between a man and a woman, someone has turned up some photos of her in sleepwear.  She’s a model!!  Hello!  Models have pictures taken in a lot less.  She expressed her opinion and that of her family, and now the mainstream media is trying to destroy her.  No surprise there.  They must think she’s a Republican too.  Everyone needs to back off and allow her to get on with her life as a model.

Mr. Obama,

There are about 40 million people over the age of 50 in the workforce.  Pay each one of them $1 million apiece severance pay, with these stipulations:

1.  They leave their jobs.  *40 million jobs now available*  – unemployment fixed.

2. They must buy a NEW American car.  *40 million new cars ordered* – auto industry fixed.

3. They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage.  – housing crisis fixed.

4. They buy stocks.  – The stock market rebounds with no help from the Feds.

Cost to U.S. taxpayers:  $40 million.  Ecomomy fixed!

House Bill 3180, filed by state Rep. Senfronia Thompson (D-Houston), sets minimum standards of care and housing for animals in breeding facilities. The bill will require commercial dog and cat breeding facilities to: * Obtain a commercial breeding license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and pay an annual fee for renewal; * Allow inspections by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation; * Pay penalties for failure to meet licensing requirements. Humane standards of treatment outlined in HB 3180 would require breeding facilities to: * Provide food at least once every 24 hours with continuous access to water; * Allow confined animals enough space to easily sit, stand, turn around, and lie down in a normal manner; * Provide adequate ventilation and adequate lighting for animals kept indoors; * Provide structurally sound shelter with proper protection from inclement weather conditions for animals housed outdoors; and * Maintain adequate sanitation conditions within the living spaces. In addition, HB 3180 exempts hobby breeders who keep 10 or fewer adult intact animals, as well as nonprofit animal welfare groups with a 501(c) (3) tax status. The legislation also provides for proper handling, treatment, and immunization of animals for disease, and parasite and pest control, including proper care by a veterinarian and written health records for each animal. “We just want to ensure that there is a guaranteed minimum standard of care and a level of humanness for all these animals,” Thompson said in a statement.

Recently, I was told about a great web site that allows us average citizens to help Homeland Security keep an eye on portions of the U.S. – Mexico border and report any illegal activity.  The web site is: http://www.blueservo.net/index.php and it allows you to create a free account, using only your email address (no other information is collected).  Once a member, you can view the border from several different vantage points.  If you see activity that you think may be illegal immigrants trying to enter our country, or see something that looks to be possible drug activity, there is a button you can click on to report it.  A screen then opens asking you what you saw.  Once that’s entered, the information is passed on to the local sheriff of the county in which the camera is located and they then take a look at the camera view and determine if a response from local officers is warranted.  This is a great way for citizens to provide extra eyes to help secure our border.  Plus, it’s fun.  Right now over 53,000 people have signed up to monitor the cameras.  Check it out.

I received an email this morning that I wanted to share with others.  I think this best describes one reason why we need to toughen our border security.

“A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials that I’ve read in ages!!!
It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.
Her point:
Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let’s say I break into your house. Let’s say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, “No!  I like it here. It’s better than my house. I’ve made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I’ve done all the things you don’t like to do. I’m hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).”

According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house You are Required to feed me You are Required to add me to your family’s insurance plan You are Required to Educate my kids You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that ‘breaking in’ part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m just trying to better myself. I’m a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, ‘I did break into your house’! And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me.

Why can’t “we the people” see how ridiculous this is?!   Only in America .”

H.B. No. 47 in the Texas House of Representatives is being debated.  It requires people to provide proof of identification prior to voting.  Opponents are concerned that this might intimidate the elderly, the handicapped, or others.  The only people who, in my opinion, will be intimidated are illegal aliens, anyone not legally registered to vote, and those using ficticious identification.  In other words, liars, cheats and criminals.  I have no problem showing my drivers license when asked to prove my identity.  We’re only supposed to vote once and then only when properly registered to vote.  The only way to make sure that isn’t being violated is by requiring proof of identity.  Give the poll workers the tools they need to protect the honesty and integrity of  the polling places.

A couple days ago, I received an email from a friend in regards to a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that, if passed, would effectively usurp the 2nd Ammendment and infringe on everyone’s right to own firearms, even in the privacy of  their own home.  I’m referring to HR 45, known as the “Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009″, introduced in the 111th Congress by U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) on 1/6/09.  Before jumping to conclusions, I went to www.house.gov and confirmed that this is a real bill and the contents are as scary as stated in the email.  Here’s the jist of the bill:  Basically it would make it illegal to own any rifle with a clip and any semi-auto pistol unless the following are adhered to:  1) it is registered; 2) you are fingerpinted; 3) you supply you drivers license; 4) you supply your social security number; 5) you submit to a physical and mental evaluation at the time of ‘their’ choosing; 6) each update, ie. change in ownership through private or public sale must be reported and you pay a fee of $25 – Failure to do so and you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject to a year in jail….; 7) there’s a child provision clause stating all guns must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18 and ’they’ would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely, away from children and a violation is a fine and up to 5 years in prison.

Got your attention yet?  I emailed a copy of the email to everyone in my address book.  I also sent emails to my US congressman and both Texas senators.  So far, I have received only one reply, that being from Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and she is a very strong advocate for the rights of gun owners.  Her stand is no new gun laws, let’s just enforce the ones we already have.  She has my vote.

This House bill, if it were to ever make it into law is totally invasive in scope and is just one more step towards a total ban on individual rights of gun ownership in this country.  We cannot let this happen and all patriotic Americans MUST keep abreast of this situation and make their feelings known to their respective elected officials.  Whether you own a gun or not, I’m sure you don’t want only the criminals having guns.  We can’t totally depend on law enforcement to keep us safe.  It’s physically impossible.  Let’s stand up for our rights as citizens and not let our Constitution be whittled away, piece by piece.

I was just listening to GMA interviewing the attorneys for the 9 year old Arizona boy who shot and killed his dad and a friend.  They’ve dropped all charges on him for killing his dad and are letting him plea to negligent murder for the death of the other man.  His mom, attorneys and apparently half the world wonder if he is competent to plead guilty due to his tender age of 9.  Again, WTF!!?  When I was 9 I sure knew that if you pointed a gun at someone and pulled the trigger, chances were they would die!  He’s 9, not 3.  He knows right from wrong.  He knows how to kill.  He is learning to resolve his problems with violence.  They boy should be put in a mental institution or a juvenile facility where he can harm no one else.  Let’s quit coddling kids who do vicious acts.  Life isn’t a video game!  There should be consequences for their actions.
